Just Before samples the rhythms of intimate cultures in overlooked public spaces—from the relentless drumming and celebration at the edges of local football matches to near-solitary moments on the Karwa bus through distant countryside settlements in Qatar. These spaces, now overshadowed by modern marvels of living and moving, are explored through their beats, rumbles, and textures, revealing niche pockets of historic yet transient cultures that continue to shape them today.
Sonic Jeel is a collaborative lab investigating sound, electronic music, and audiovisual media within the context of Qatar and the Gulf region. The lab celebrates the interplay of the sonic and the graphic toward a new generation of interdisciplinary makers.
